This article is about how Blogging has been grouped with myspace.com as well as on-line chat rooms. Deleting Online Predators Act (DOPA) was put in place to stop potential predators from communicating with children. Hargadon is a computer professional who is concerned that the act is throwing out the opportunity to "read/write web". Blogging is a great way to get students involved and excited about their learning.
This website shows you what blogging can be used for in your classroom. I am very excited to has students share their thoughts or ideas about writing proofs for their geometry homework. Also, this website shows that you can do away with your Parent Newsletter, and use blogging as a way to notify parents of what is happening in the classroom. This website also talks about how to use blogging as a way to collaborate with other students who may be working on a group project together, but cannot meet outside of class time.
This article was on how to use blogs in your classroom. The article talked about how blogging can actually help with management. Teachers can post requirements, class syllabus, and hand-outs on the blog for easier access for students. I think that this could also help with students who are absent from school. Students can go on to the blog an obtain materials from the day that they were absent. I also like the idea about students keeping items on the blog to make a student portfolio. What is nice about the blog is that the materials do not need to be printed and can always be found on the blog for teachers, parents, and students. The last item that I enjoyed reading about is how user-friendly blogs are. Just about anyone can use them which makes it very easy for teachers to use in their classroom.
